Dear Chairman
The London Regatta, 21st July 2013, is an exciting new initiative focussing on the Royal
Albert Docks to raise the organisational delivery of Canoe Sprint at a regional level. Local
clubs and individuals are going to make this event and we are in need of organisational
leaders and support persons.
You can be part of this, be it at managing level, as a one day volunteer or somewhere
between. What can you offer to ensure this event delivers? Have you skills in IT,
administration, secretarial, reception, promotion, media, water safety, scuba, officiating,
commentating, public address systems, graphical, medical, first aid, DIY, fixing, water
operations, boat driving, marshalling, catering etc.? This is a team operation; you can make
the difference and experience the good feelings of a mission shared and a job well done.
Right now we need leaders and doers for a one off event, then maybe you'll be back for more
in 2014! If you’re busy then perhaps contain your involvement to just two days, (the
Saturday in preparation) or just volunteer for a day? Can you help make it a first class day’s
racing?
The vision is that this regatta will set up an organisational model for regional regattas with a
level of technical delivery appropriate. The regatta’s presence on the calendar will add to the
Nottingham national regatta schedule and the big plus will be the gains to be made in
operating ‘closer to home’, sustainably reducing travel and increasing competing
opportunities for athletes in and around the London area. The future is that other regions take
up the challenge. Already a new portable timing system is being secured and London Regatta
Centre are preparing for Canoe Sprint Racing.
Be part of it. In breaking this new ground we need local and individual and club
involvement. Join in right now by emailing your interest, skills and availability to

John MacLeod, Cathy Wynne
