Meridian Canoe Club

I am organising a trip on the River Stour in Kent from Grove Ferry to Fordwich and return on Sunday 10th June 2018.

Meet at boathouse at 8.30
Leave by 9.00.
Arrive Grove Ferry Car Park (CT3 4BP) (61 miles) 10.15.
There is a £2 parking charge and has toilets and changing rooms.
Launch by 10.30.
Paddle 4 miles to arrive at Fordwich 12:30
HW Fordwich is 13:34.
Those who wish to visit The Fordwich Arms are welcome to do so but it is a very popular and busy pub.
Leave 14:00
Return to Grove Ferry 15:30
Leave 16:00
Return to boathouse by 17:30

With Julia away and Kathleen nursing a sore foot, it was just Sandrine, Sandie, Dale, Phil and myself joined by the two Steves; one from Maidstone CC the other from Bewl Water CC.



Once we passed the tidal lake, the water became clear with plenty of lilies.



Not too strong a flow against us and having dodged around a fallen tree reached Historic Fordwich on time.


After lunch set off under the 223 year old bridge with it's fast flow.

An interesting piece of river which I had not paddled before and would recommend to others .
