Thames Trip : Sunday April 18th
Posted: Thu Jan 28, 2010 9:31 am
Again we have a date for the club Thames Trip.
The plan is to run from the steps at Greenwich upstream with the tide to the Westminster Boating Base at Pimlico.
This is a chance to experience the City of London and some of its most famous landmarks from a totally different perspective.
It is suitable for all paddlers in Opens or Kayaks who are about 2 Star standard, and are confident about being able to hold a course in a strong current, as we may have to avoid other water users who are both stationary and moving. If this is your first river trip we would like to be sure of your skills in advance.
The weather may still be cold and the water certainbly will be , so warm clothing is a must.
Westminster Boating Base is a nice place to end, as the get off is easy and there are good showers and other facilities.
The rough plan would be to start late morning at Greenwich, but the meeting will be much earlier as we have to organise shuttles, and run upstream for about 2 to 3 hours arriving in Pimlico just before 14.00 .
Please indicate your interest, and whether you need boats/gear/lifts etc
