I am organising a trip in the Medway Valley from Strood to Halling and return.
We meet at the boathouse at 9.00
Load boats and leave at 9.30
Arrive at Strood Steps, Canal Road, Strood, ME2 4DR (18 miles) at 10.30
Please keep cars to a minimum as parking may be limited.
The nearest toilets are at Strood Station, if open.
Launch at 11.00 and head up river with the incoming tide passing under Rochester and Medway Bridges to Halling (4.5 miles) or Wouldham (5 miles) to have lunch.
Please note there will be mud and debris on the shore when launching.
High Water at Wouldham is at 13:15
Have lunch whilst tide turns.
Start return at 14.00
I plan to arrive back at Strood Steps by 16.00 and return to the boathouse by 17.30
Low Water at Strood Pier is at 18.38.
A chart for Strood and Rochester is at

The get out at Strood is very muddy, so please bring water and cloths to wash and wipe mud off boats and yourselves.

I really enjoyed the trip, and as usual its always different: Wind, tide, sun, clouds, castle, bridges, speed boats, water skiing, waves, new n old boats moored at Strood n Snodland, reeds n rushes, new village and bridge called "Peter's, lunch on a rocky bank, then mud, steps n clean the boats. Brilliant!
Re: Medway Valley Sunday 6th August 2017
You left out:-
Phil, Sandrine, Kathleen and Steve and Alan from Bewl Water CC.
The Medway Bridges…
Being pursued and confronted by a tug
The two horses?
The pylons..
Sunday lunch in the Sun with a fantastic view.
The exotic Medway mon repos..
The glorious weather and the cliffs at Cuxton.
And finally,
the nuclear armed Soviet Submarine…
Many thanks to Mark and DWS for disinfecting our boats and storing them in overnight quarantine.

Thanks Tim for organising this great trip. It was worth the time spent to get rid of the mud afterwards!
Just need to remember to include a foam mat to seat on the rocks comfortably next time.
